Child Locks and Meaco Dehumidifiers

A customer called yesterday and asked for a list of all of the dehumidifiers that have Child Locks on them because they only wanted to buy a dehumidifier with a Child Lock because for them that feature was essential.

Not a question that we have been asked before but a valid one and I thought that it would do no harm to post a list of appropriate models onto the blog here.

Meaco dehumidifiers with Child Locks

Child Locks on our dehumidifiers prevent any of the controls from working and stops anyone from turning the dehumidifier off.

Some other brands leave it so that the dehumidifier can be turned off when the Child Lock is on, I have never understood the logic behind that.

Child Lock is not just useful for stopping children from playing with your dehumidifier it is also useful in public spaces like museums and stately homes to prevent the public from pressing a button as they walk past a machine.

If there is any information that you feel that we are missing from our website then please do let us know and we will do our best to get it online as soon as possible.

  1. While I appreciate having a child lock on the MC 9000 PRO CH it’s also not great.

I have a cat that sits on the AC buttons and the lock is easily evaded. It’s also strange that the lock can’t be set when in standby/off, even though the wifi and app are active.

Equally strange is that while the app can control the lock, the remote can’t. But then again, in the app I need to turn off the lock before changing settings, which seems redundant. Remote locking/unlocking is a useful feature though.

From my perspective, the child lock should only affect the physical buttons on the main unit, and work whether on or off. I can hide the remote and lock the phone myself. If the lock is activated on the main panel it really needs to be multiple buttons, ideally far apart. It’s at that point the lock is useful.

    1. Justin,

We appreciate the feedback, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have passed this onto the team to keep note of for future reference.

      Kind regards,

  2. I’m loving my new appliance already, but need to ask idiot questions Instructions with platinum 12L arent clear, nor the videos, on exactly what different modes options provide, and how.
I assume AP mode will only work if a HEPA filter is fitted, otherwise it is just a fan.
Also, in CO mode with a HEPA fitted, you then have both dehumidifier and air purification AP. Similarly, CO mode wthout filter is just dehumidifier with fan running. Grateful for clarification as the videos arent spelling this out. Many thanks.

    1. Lynn,

Basically you are correct, if the HEPA filter is in place then the machine is purifying the air (whatever mode it is in) and if the HEPA filter is not there then it is not purifying the air.

      Chris
