Ever wondered which fan would best suit you and your home? As the summer warmth is here to stay, we explore the different fan options!
There are a lot of similarities between the different fans available but we often have different demands when it comes to where we’ll use them or how close to them we plan to be. Which fan would be best for a work from home desk? How would you best keep the whole family cool while sitting in the lounge on a hot summer’s day?
We take a look at the MeacoFan range to answer your questions on how to choose the best fan for you.
As the warmer weather arrives, we find ourselves thinking about needing to stay cool during hot summer days and very warm uncomfortable nights.
You may have been looking at buying a fan for your home or workplace. But deciding which fan is best for you isn’t always easy as there are many types available. When it comes to picking the right one, there are a few important factors you should take into consideration.
Knowing where you’ll place it, can help you choose which fan is best for you
Firstly, where will you use it? Do you need a fan for your desk, your bedside table, the kitchen side or the sitting room? The space where you want it to sit can help you determine the size of fan that you’ll buy.
If you only have a small space like a windowsill or the edge of your work desk to put your fan on. Then, a smaller one is likely to make more sense.
You might also be looking to move the fan from room to room or, perhaps, take it out with you for the day. So a portable fan, running off a single USB cable or battery operated will be the one to look out for.

Deciding how close to the fan you will be is key to deciding which fan to go for
Another thing to think about, is how close to the fan you’ll be. If you’re going to have it very close to you, for example next to your head in bed or the table next to your computer. Then a smaller fan, might again, be better.
But if you’re looking to position the fan further away, perhaps in the centre of the sitting room to cool the whole family. Then, a larger fan would be better with its much more powerful air flow.
Think about whether your fan needs height and where in the room it will sit
You also need to consider where the fan will sit. If it’s in a bedroom, you might want the fan at the bottom of the bed but have nothing to sit it on. In this case, a pedestal fan will be best as it can stand on the floor and it’s tall enough to keep you cool in bed. This will also be the same in the lounge, but in this case, make sure the pedestal fan is tall enough to blow the air over items like armchairs and sofas.
Have you considered whether you want an integrated light on your fan?
Finally, have a think about whether you want a night light or not. For those of you wanting a dim light while you sleep, whether it’s for you or your child, many fans have an optional night light. They can offer you a reassuring light at night. Alternatively, many fans have the option to turn any display and sound off entirely. If you prefer total darkness and don’t want to be disturbed by any potential beeping sounds.
