Choosing the right air purifier for your room

Matching an air purifier to your room is one of the most crucial aspects of buying an air purifier to try and help with your allergies but this is an area that most people get wrong and the industry makes confusing for people.  Buy an air purifier that is too small for your space and you will not get any benefit from it, buy one that is too large and you could find it too noisy and you will just turn it off.  Matching up the room to the air purifier is also important because this controls how often the room air is cleaned, this should be at least 3 times an hour, as a minimum.

So matching up the air purifier to the room is vital so why do manufacturers and retailers make this so difficult for consumers?  In actual fact what you need to do is really simple so why complicate it?

What you are interested in is how much air the air purifier can pull through itself per hour, this is normally expressed in terms of cubic metres per hour and for the MeacoClean CA-HEPA 76×5 looks like this – 380m³.

If your room is smaller than that then great, the air will be cleaner because the air purifier will clean the air more often for you because it will pass over the filter more often and/or you can turn the fan speed down.  If your room is larger then lucky you and you should be looking at a larger air purifier.

Now if your allergy is severe then we recommend that the air purifier be sized to clean the air 5 times an hour or more. On 5 cleans an hour this air purifier can clean a room sized at 76m³, which is where it got its name from.

    1. Nathan,

The dehumidifier will be fine running for days on end. Just remember to keep the filter clean, make sure that the dehumidifier has enough clearance on all sides as per the manual and if you are not going to see the unit for long periods of time then you can use a RCD as well (good rule for ant electrical appliance).

      Hope this helps.

      Chris
