The team at Meaco has just returned from exhibiting at 2020 SPATEX, showcasing its MeacoWall range of commercial low energy wall mounted dehumidifiers.
SPATEX is the UK’s only international wet leisure Exhibition, representing all sectors of the Industry from pools, hot tubs, spas, saunas, wellness, steam rooms and children’s play equipment, in both the domestic and commercial arena. As the networking event of the year, SPATEX is an opportunity to showcase new products and innovations, and a chance to meet industry experts who offer valuable business and technical expertise via a series of seminars involving Industry bodies such as the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers (ISPE) and the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG).
Meaco has been a regular exhibitor over the years, showcasing MeacoWall as an advanced solution for humidity control within gyms and swimming pools.
Looking back at the 2020 event, we asked Chris Michael, Director at Meaco, for his observations on this year’s show:
- How did the event go from Meaco’s perspective?
SPATEX is an important event for Meaco as it allows our installers and retailers a chance to see the MeacoWall dehumidifiers in the flesh. They are stunningly beautiful close up but because of their weight and size it is really difficult for us to take them around the country to show installers individually.
- What feature of the MeacoWall was most popular with visitors?
MeacoWall 53B Ultra Quiet Wall Mounted Dehumidifier
Installers already know how technically good the MeacoWall units are, but it is great to see their reaction when they see them for the first time on a wall. They are blown away when they see how stunning they look, with their unique glass front in either white or black. They are also amazed at how slim they are, at just 202mm deep, an important issue when space is an issue, and how quiet they are in operation. This is down to the DC fan motor that helps reduce running costs and keeps noise levels very low. Buyers have three sizes to choose from, 53L, 72L, and 103L, with the 53 litre model running at just 44dB and one decibel extra for the 72 litre model, a figure that many domestic dehumidifiers would struggle to match.
- What were the highlights from the event?
For me it was hearing from installers who came to the stand to tell us how delighted their customers were with their installation and how impressed they were compared to other brands of dehumidifiers.
- Did you notice any emerging trends or technologies in this industry segment?
The focus of this year’s event was going green. Meaco has always focused on developing environmentally friendly products, with an emphasis on low energy consumption and low noise. MeacoWall has been using less energy than most other large dehumidifiers for a few years now, so it is good to hear the whole industry is now concentrating on reducing energy consumption.

MeacoWall – operates at low temperature
Installation is flexible with the option of continuous drainage from either the right or left hand side of the dehumidifier. An automatic hot gas defrost system allows use in spaces were heating is limited with continuous performance right down to 10°C, something that most wall mounted dehumidifiers cannot do as they are often designed with just the warmer swimming pool sector in mind. For swimming pool applications, the refrigeration coils are specially coated to ensure a long service life.
