Back in September 2014, a couple of days after my birthday, came the news that we had won not one but two Which? awards and not only that the Meaco 20L Low Energy dehumidifier had won the top award. This was huge news for us as a company because we are a small organistaion completely dwarfed by the mamouth organisations that we were up against in the test and it has meant so much to us to win these awards.
A friend of mine commented when he heard the news that it was no big deal because we should have won. At the time I was rather taken aback because for us it was a huge surprise and a massive thing. But he clarified his comments by saying that Meaco are experts and specialists in dehumidifiers and all of the other companies like Argos, Delonghi, Dimplex and B&Q etc do millions of other things and cannot be expected to have the same attention to detail with dehumidifiers as we do.
I take his point on board but it was still a massive shock and surprise when we got the news and is certainly not something that we will ever take for granted in the future.
Which? is an organisation that I have respected for many, many years years. My parents were members and always trusted the magazine when they choose their appliances. In more recent years I have been struck how the major manufacturers like Miele, Bosch and Samsung show off their awards at IFA every year in Berlin, this shows the international respect for the awards and the testing that Which? carry out.
For now it is a case of dealing with the upsurge in demand and maintaining and improving the quality standards that helped us to win the award in the first place.
