The Meaco Sefte® 8″ fan is the latest innovation in our award-winning range – compact, cordless, and designed with a built-in rechargeable battery to deliver quiet, cooling comfort wherever you need it. Like all rechargeable devices, the battery won’t last forever.
But unlike most air circulators, the Sefte® 8″ has been thoughtfully engineered so you can replace the battery yourself, extending the life of your fan and reducing unnecessary waste.
We began putting batteries in our fans as part of a broader push toward greater sustainability and portability – driven largely by customer feedback. It all started with the MeacoFan 260c, our first battery-powered model. It was lightweight, quiet, and quickly became a customer favourite.
One piece of feedback made us rethink our approach: a customer pointed out that the battery was sealed inside and couldn’t be replaced. From there, we listened closely to what customers really wanted – fans that were smaller, cordless, and built to last. Within a year, we came out with a brand new iteration of the MeacoFan 260c, complete with a rechargeable, replaceable battery.
We took these learnings across to our Sefte® range. The result is the MeacoFan Sefte® 8” Air Circulator: a compact, rechargeable fan with a replaceable battery that offers up to 17 hours of cordless use. It’s designed not just for convenience, but to reduce waste and extend the life of the product.
Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you swap out the battery in less than a minute. You can also follow along with the instructions in your MeacoFan Sefte® Instruction Manual.
What you’ll need
- A Meaco-approved replacement battery pack (available here at meaco.com)
- A clean, flat surface to work on
Step-by-step battery replacement guide
1. Turn off
Press the button on the right-hand side of the fan’s base. This will pop open the lid and give you access to the battery compartment.
2. Open the battery compartment
Remove the cover of the battery pack compartment to reveal the battery inside.
3. Remove the old battery
Gently lift out the old battery pack.
4. Insert the new battery
Place the new battery into the compartment, ensuring the text on the battery is facing upwards and facing towards you. You can push it down until you feel it connect.
5. Close the compartment
Replace the compartment cover and ensure it clicks securely into place.

Tips for battery care
- Always use Meaco-approved replacement batteries to maintain safety and performance.
- Store the fan in a cool, dry place when not in use for long periods.
- If storing the fan over winter, check the battery every few months and recharge it to around 50% if needed. This helps preserve battery health and prevent long-term capacity loss.

Answering your questions on the new Sefte® battery:
How long does the fan last for on a single battery charge?
The fan can run for up to 17 hours on a single charge*, depending on your chosen settings. That keeps you on the move, no strings attached.
How long does it take to charge to 100%?
A full charge takes around 3 hours.
Can I run the fan while the battery is charging?
Yes, like all lithium batteries like the ones in your phone, headphones and more – the Sefte® 8” Air Circulator can charge while in use. You won’t need to wait the 3 hours before restarting your fan.
How will I know when my Sefte® needs to be charged?
Before running out of “oomph”, your Sefte® 8” will show a right light under the power button (when the fan is on, you’ll normally see this as a white light). This red light is an indicator that the battery is low and that the fan should be put on charge.
Don’t worry if you miss this warning light. When the battery is completely depleted, the air circulator will simply stop running. This won’t damage the fan, simply plug in to charge and you can resume as usual.
When will I need to replace the battery itself?
When the battery does expire, there’s no need to throw away the whole fan. Later down the line, you may notice that the fan doesn’t run for as long as it used to or the battery starts to fail altogether. You can still use your fan, connected to the mains, during this time but it’s time to renew the battery.
Please dispose of your previous Sefte® battery mindfully. You can check if your local authority accepts batteries as part of their home recycling scheme or dispose at a designated waste site.
New batteries are available at meaco.com so you can continue to make the most out of your portable, battery air circulator.
