Your MeacoFan Sefte® 8” is built to deliver quiet, powerful cooling – whenever you need it. But like any hard-working appliance, it needs a little TLC from time to time to keep performing at its best.
You might notice that after being tucked away over the winter, your fan seems a bit noisier or looks a little less pristine. Not to worry, it’s easy to give it a quick refresh. Here’s how to clean your MeacoFan Sefte® 8” in just a few simple steps.
What you’ll need:
- A Phillips screwdriver
- A soft dry cloth or a non-abrasive wet wipe
- A clear workspace
- Around 5 minutes of your time
Important: Before you start, always make sure your fan is unplugged from the mains.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1: Remove the screw
Turn the fan so you’re looking at the bottom of the fan head. Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the small screw. Pop it somewhere safe – you’ll need it when you reassemble.
Step 2: Take off the front grille
Gently hold both sides of the front grille and twist it anticlockwise to release it. It should come off smoothly with a little rotation.

Step 3: Remove the fan blade
Next, twist the locking cap clockwise to loosen it. Once that’s removed, you can take off the fan blade.
Step 4: Clean the fan
Use your dry cloth or a wet wipe to gently clean the fan blade, grill, and any interior surfaces you can reach. Avoid using water directly on the unit – just a wipe-down will do the job nicely.

Step 5: Reassemble your fan
Once everything’s clean and dry, simply reverse the steps:
- Pop the fan blade back on
- Secure it with the locking cap
- Twist the front grill back into place
- Reinsert the screw
And that’s it – you’re good to go!
Keep it clean, keep it cool
Regular cleaning not only keeps your Sefte® 8″ looking smart, but also helps maintain its whisper-quiet performance. A clean fan is a happy fan – and one that will keep you cool for many summers to come.

Troubleshooting
If it’s been a while since you last cleaned your fan, the grill might feel a bit stiff. Hold both sides firmly and rotate slowly – it should loosen with gentle persistence.
Make sure the locking cap is securely tightened and that no dust remains on the motor shaft or behind the fan blade.
If you’re curious about why the Sefte® 8″ is so quiet in the first place, take a look at how the whole Sefte® range earned the Quiet Mark accreditation.
We recommend giving your Sefte® 8″ a clean when it looks dirty! You’ll visibly be able to see any dust it has collected.
Clean it first and store it in a dry, dust-free environment. Covering it with a fabric bag or cloth can help prevent dust buildup.
The MeacoFan Sefte® 8″ uses a user-replaceable lithium-ion battery, so there’s no need to replace the whole fan. For full details on how to swap it out, check out our guide here.
