Late spring is the off-season for dehumidifiers in the U.K and the time of year that we plan for the next season. This year we decided to hold our first ever dehumidifier conference her in Guildford and invited our distributors from across Europe and South Africa to join us for two days of discussion about the Meaco brand of dehumidifiers.
Twenty five convened at the Manor House Hotel on the outskirts of Guildford to discuss a wide range of topics including dehumidifier design, matching dehumidifiers to customer’s applications, why and how we sell dehumidifiers, who we sell them to and in particular how dehumidifier applications vary across different countries.
We looked at developments for new dehumidifiers to be introduced at the back end of 2013 and into 2014. As well as the workshop format we had notable guest speakers including Jane Henderson who joined us from the University of Wales to discuss using dehumidifiers in museums to protect artefacts and the relationship between different materials and moisture. Anne Kavanagh of Kavanagh Communications discussed marketing and social media and provided many of the international business owners with a lot of food for thought.
At the moment Meaco is exceptionally strong in the domestic sector, less so in the industrial sector. This is something that we are looking to redress in 2013/2014 and there was much discussion about the right
The hotel is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and we had some glorious weather which enabled the delegates to get outside and sample some of the finest scenery that the South of England has to offer. Newlands Corner and Silent pool are well worth a visit if you are ever in Guildford and looking to stretch your legs.
One of the first things that our customers will see as a result of the conference is new 3D Animation videos to help explain what the dehumidifiers can do and how they work. This was a suggestion made by our distributor in Lithuania and everyone agreed that this is something that we should implement with immediate effect.
Everyone agreed that the two days were a very useful experience and we all came away from the conference full of ideas about how to take the Meaco brand forward and how to serve our customers better.
