How Meaco Topped the Which? Dehumidifier Charts

The consumer organisation Which? published the details of their dehumidifier tests in the January issue of their magazine.  These are the tests where we won two out of the three Best Buy awards with the Meaco DD8L and the overall winner – the Meaco 20L Low Energy Dehumidifier topped the Which? dehumidifier charts.

Below is the summary of the results and you can see that we were up against some very strong compeition with the likes of household brands Electrolux, Delonghi, Ebac, Dimplex and Blyss (B&Q) included with the test.

Which? gave their Best Buy dehumidifier award to Meaco

As you can see the Meaco 20L Low Energy Dehumidifier scored 85% overall a long way ahead of the other brands and according to Which? extracted almost five times as much water per hour as the Delonghi DES14 in their tests.

  1. I do like the Meaco range of Dehumidifiers but in all honesty the fact that they Meaco have won awards on some of there machines through Which. Does not really justify the real story as let’s face it the Which testers as they call themselves. have really made there decisions on water extraction only. And also based on customers results as Meaco had requested customer feedback clearly. Which is fine as the customers need to be happy with there purchase. But to be honest I have family members whom have both machines running so yes I can compare and to be honest Meaco machines are not smart controlled in any way. And to state all over the Internet that they are smart because they can be controlled via an app in reality means nothing. Because all Meaco have done is to extend the very basic controls of there machines to an app on your phone. So basically you have a remote control way of setting them But they are still manual also I am an ex air conditioning engineer and I have now officially retired after 45 years in the industry. So I am more than aware of how these machines work znd there purpose. Also I do not believe for one moment the testers of Which really have a clue how to test these Dehumidifiers. And the same applies to many of the items that Which test unfortunately as they have a protocol that is widely based on customer feedback. Rather than the real understanding of what there testing. For example they base a lot of there sound findings on high end stereo speakers on loudness. But in reality they should be looking at the bass line and the mid range and many other factors that they clearly have little clue about. Yes I am very much an audiophile and have been since I was a very young child. Regarding high end HI FI equipment. So could you please stop stating that meaco Dehumidifiers use smart technology as they do not. Yes there displays incorporate a certain degree of logic components but at a very basic remote control level. I do apologise for the negative feedback but I would rather be honest than just spread untrue statements about a Dehumidifier that just is not true.

    1. Gary,

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on the Meaco dehumidifiers. We appreciate your honesty and the perspective you bring as a retired air conditioning engineer.

It’s clear you have significant experience and knowledge in this area, and I understand your concerns regarding the labeling of the products as “smart.” Please note the criteria needed for a dehumidifier to be smart is as follows:

A smart dehumidifier typically has the following features:

App Control: The ability to connect to a smartphone app for remote monitoring and control, allowing users to adjust settings, set schedules, and view humidity levels from anywhere.

Wi-Fi Connectivity: Integration with home Wi-Fi networks to enable remote access and notifications.

Smart Home Integration: Compatibility with smart home systems like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, allowing for voice control and automation.

Sensors and Automation: Advanced humidity sensors that automatically adjust the operation based on real-time humidity readings and user preferences.

Energy Efficiency Monitoring: Features that help track energy consumption and efficiency, often providing suggestions for optimizing usage.

Customizable Settings: More advanced programming options, such as setting specific humidity targets or operating schedules.

These features help enhance user convenience and improve the overall effectiveness of the dehumidifier in managing indoor air quality.

We aim to provide the best possible products and services, and your insights are invaluable in helping us improve. If you have any further suggestions or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

      Thank you for your understanding!

      Kind regards,
      Omar@Meaco.
