These sweltering summer nights in the UK can make getting a good night’s sleep feel like an impossible task. But fear not, because with a few clever tricks and tips, you can beat the heat and enjoy a restful slumber even when the temperature soars.

Start by keeping your bedroom as cool as you can during the day, this will prevent the heat trapped in the room and avoid a greenhouse-like effect. Close curtains during the day to block out the sun’s heat, and open windows at night to let in the cool breeze.

During the height of British Summer Time, the sun can start making an appearance as early as 4.30am and not setting until 10pm. In which case, another issue keeping us up is the sunshine still seeping through the windows and keeping us awake. Block out noise and light with blackout curtains. Keep your bedroom dark, quiet, and cool to promote restful sleep.

Then, consider your bedding. Swap out heavy blankets and duvets for lightweight options like cotton or linen. These materials allow for better airflow and help regulate body temperature.
