Meaco’s heritage comes from the work we did in the museum and heritage sector throughout the 1990’s and into the 2000s. This gave us a deep understanding of not only what museums need to preserve their collections but also how to control the environment and how users interact with their humidifiers and dehumidifiers.
It has been a while since we worked closely with museums but I reflected on that experience when I was designing the controls for the new Meaco 25L Low Energy Dehumidryer. What if we took a control setup that would be perfect for museums and put it into the Dehumidryer so that people could have the same level of professional control their homes?
And so the MeacoEasyRH Control was born.
Museums in general want the relative humidity to be on average between 50 – 60%rh without any fast changes or spikes. They like gentle control that hovers within that band. Maintaining a relative humidity of around 55%rh will ensure that mould will not grow and for the majority of European weather conditions you should not get condensation on your windows, you are therefore dealing with the two main reasons why people buy dehumidifiers in Europe.
What MeacoEasyRH Control does is it allows you to just press the one button and then walk away and not worry about the dehumidifier’s setup. Once pressed the dehumidifier will act as follows;
• When the relative humidity reaches 45%rh the compressor is turned off but the fan stays on in low mode.
• 50 to 55%rh the compressor is on and fan speed is low.
• 55 to 65%rh the compressor is turned on and the fan reverts to speed two.
• Above 65%rh the compressor is on and the fan is on high.
When the compressor is turned on the dehumidifier is drying the air and removing the moisture from the air.
You can see that the further the relative humidity in the room gets away from our perfect relative humidity the harder the fan works to bring the relative humidity back down. Of course because this dehumidifier uses a DC Motor it means that the harder it works the less energy the dehumidifier is using. The Dehumidryer is actually part of our exclusive Platinum Range and costs less money per litre of water collected than any of our multi-award winning Low Energy dehumidifiers.
With the fan turned on all of the time the control of relative humidity with this dehumidifier will be a lot more accurate than with other machines because the air from the room is constantly being drawn over the relative humidity sensor and the machines is permanently updating itself to what is going on in the room so it is alert to changes in relative humidity and can react constantly.
One of the best things about the Meaco 25L is that this MeacoEasyRH is not your only option and you can switch from this to normal Humidistat control whenever you want so you have the best of both worlds.
