If you took two dehumidifier experts and sat them in a room they could probably argue long and hard as to which is the best and also the most important dehumidifier in Europe at the moment, the DD8L Zambezi or the Meaco 25L Low Energy Dehumidryer.
Zambezi has quite rightly attracted a lot of attention because of all of the customer driven features, the six world firsts and the charity tie-in.
To someone coming new to dehumidifiers the Meaco 25L Low Energy Dehumidryer might look at first glance like just another compressor dehumidifier but actually it is the best compressor dehumidifier that we have ever produced and takes the industry an important step forward.
Meaco 25L Low Energy Dehumidryer is a better dehumidifier than our Meaco 20L Low Energy Dehumidifier which has won two Which? Best Buy awards here in the UK, a Best Buy against 20 other machines in Scandinavia and numerous 5 star reviews.
Why is the Meaco 25L Low Energy Dehumidryer so important?
- It is the first dehumidifier to use a DC Motor, this saves energy and increases reliability.
- The harder it works the less electricity it uses
- The water collected costs less per litre than any other dehumidifier in our range
- It uses just 256 watts at 20° & 60%rh
- It is a genuine alternative to a tumble dryer
- The new MeacoEasyRH Control provides a professional standard of control by pressing just one button
- You still have a normal humidistat control as well as the MeacoEasyRH for total flexibility
I know that you might read this and think that this all sounds like marketing hype, I understand that and I feel the same when I read websites looking for products. But please trust me, this is the best compressor dehumidifier we have ever produced and is well worth a long look.
You can read the first independent review yourself here, describing the huge advancements in dehumidifier efficiency and running costs, it was a 5 star review
We are very, very proud of this dehumidifier, two years ago the Meaco 12L and 20L Low Energy dehumidifiers moved the industry forward with their low wattages that shock the industry. Well the Meaco 25L Low Energy Dehumidryer is a whole new ball game and an even bigger step forward in terms of technology, reliability and energy consumption.

We have a 3 bedroom bungalow would 25l or 20l be cheaper to run
MeacoDry Arete® One 25L Dehumidifier / Air Purifier: 8p / hour based on 27.35p / kWh
MeacoDry Arete® One 20L Dehumidifier / Air Purifier: 6p / hour based on 27.35p / kWh
The smaller machine will cost less to run.
Thanks.

Hi, can you please make a filter for the 25litre Ultra low platinum dehumidifier, I love this machine so much but really need a filter. I have the Arete One also but would love to keep my Ultra low energy platinum because of some other features on it. Is it possible to have a hepa filter? I didn’t know this model did not come with one like the 20litre. I was gutted when I this was the case and it was too late by then. An expensive mistake to make
Hello,
Thank you for your enquiry. The Meaco 25L Ultra Low Energy Platinum Dehumidifier is a discontinued product overall and parts will no longer be manufactured for it.
Please contact us if we can assist with anything else.

Hi Omar, could you please explain why Meaco discontinued 25L Ultra Low Energy Platinum Dehumidifier. I can still buy it from other sellers with a 3-year guarantee but your message makes me worried, especially from the spare parts perspective. Thank you
Hello,
Thank you for your query, we have now the option of a newer 25L being the AreteOne.

Hi Meaco
I have decided on the Meadow brand but I am struggling to choose the best model from your range. Any advice would very, very much appreciated. We have a largish three bed, high ceilings, Victorian house with condensation/damp. The house is on the colder side (currently sat at a temperature of 14-16 degrees). Downstairs bathroom and hallway is pretty damp (no extraction). As an added bonus we would also like to use the dehumidifier to help with laundry drying.
*The cat has asthma / not sure if a HEPA filter would help? Open plan downstairs layout.
Jinny,
A Meaco 20L dehumidifier and use the HEPA filter to help clean the air for the dehumidifier, for you and for the cat.

Does the 25L have an ioniser or option of a HEPA filter like the Zambezi or 20L?
I’m finding mixed messages in different places or no mention at all, which is confusing and making me hesitate to purchase any of them! Looking for the best option for a basement. Apparently dehumidification and purification is best there..?
Thank you.
Peter,
The 25L does not have a HEPA filter or an ioniser, it is just straight dehumidification.
Chris
Hi. Would you recommend the new meacodry abc 20l or meaco 25l ? When it comes to noise at night and overall performance with laundry etc
Thomas,
The 25L wins because it is great at drying laundry and then the low noise mode makes it quieter.
Chris
Can’t decide between the 20l and the 25l. Prefer the look and efficiency of the 25l but Which says its very loud, whereas the 20l is reviewed as being quiet. Is the 25l actually louder than the 20l?
Which only test on the highest fan speed which sometimes does not help. the 25L has 4 fans speeds so you can select the power level you want then you can control the noise level. On the 25l this means that it can be quieter than the 20L or noiser if you select Laundry Mode. You do not have that flexibility on the 20L which is why the 25l is a superior machine in this aspect.
Chris
Don’t know which to buy Meaco 25L or 20L WHICH IS THE ECONOMICAL TO RUN ELECTRIC I THOUGHT THE 25L WAS THE MOST EFFICIENT BUT I AM NOT SURE AS I WAS SPEAKING TO A SALES PERSON SHE SAID THE 20L IS MORE EFFICIENT AND CHEAPER
Janet,
That is a simple one. The 25L costs less per litre of water collected than any other dehumidifier in the range.

Is there a way to get rid of a musty smell which is coming from this dehumidifier? I got my current one as a replacement for another one and so it is no longer under warranty. I used it to dry out a room when it was replastered and ever since it has had a horrible musty, wet dog sort of smell coming from inside. Is there anything that can be done to fix it and stop this terrible smell please?
Rach,
the best way to avoid such smells is to clean the filters and to use the dehumidifier, turning it off for prolonged periods of time causes this issue.
Chris
Can’t decide between 25l 20l and the DD8 Zambesie.
The hepa filter is also an attraction??
Hold up on purchase because of no stock so time to deliberate.

Errol,
A HEPA filter is only available on the compressor machines, so Arete would be your choice if that is important.
The extraction rate for Zambezi is fairly fixed and does not vary by temperature, so you get circa 3.9 litres in fan speed one (351 watts) and 8 litres in fan speed two (656 watts), whereas the Arete One 20L will give you between 3.4 and 8.5 litres a day between 10 and 20°C but for just 180 to 216 watts).
Wattage is heat, so many people love using Zambezi because it warms the space up as well as drying the air and I think that could well be the point that will help you decide between the two, do you want some extra warmth, or just the cheapest dehumidifier to run. If you house is always warm then you should go for Arete.
