We are asked lots of questions via our ‘Ask a Question’ buttons on a daily basis and we answer each one in turn in as much detail as possible. But it has struck me that a lot of the questions are very similar, so in order to help as many people as possible solve their dehumidifier questions we are going to publish the answers to the most popular questions here as well.
Today’s question comes from Steve and is one that many people ask about how often you empty a dehumidifier tank;
‘Hi there on the Meaco DD8L it states an 8 litre extraction rate per day with only a 2 litre tank. Does this mean it has got to emptied quite a few times over 24 hours?’
Steve,
You will probably find that you will be emptying it once in the morning and once in the evening when you receive it. When the house starts to dry out this will settle down to once a day and then at some stage you will probably fall into a routine of emptying it every other day.
The humidistat on board will control how much water you will take out of the air and it is unlikely that you would need to remove 8 litres every single day.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Chris

We have a rented property and have had bad water ingress in the sitting area,. I have given the tenants a new Meaco 12 L dehumidifier to reduce damp . The cause of ingress has now been fixed but as the walls are lathe and plaster water has been soaked up like a sponge .
I want to pay for the electricity costs fro running the dehumidifier 24 hours a day ,
I would be very grateful of you could give me some idea of what the daily cost could be so I can reimburse the tenants
Thank you for your enquiry, please note running costs are available on the product page on our website, see the technical overview tab.
Our 12L units approximate Electricity Cost are 4p / hour based on 28.62p / kWh
I hope this helps.
