Our Meaco CA-HEPA 119×5 was featured as one of The Telegraph’s top 6 best air purifiers for your home who were impressed with its ease of set up and ability to filter out a whole range of air pollutants extremely quickly.
Air Pollution an increasing concern
Air pollution has become one of the primary health concerns of the 21st century with scientists making us aware of the dangers of indoor pollution, specifically pollutants produced within the home. The Telegraph article set out to highlight exactly what these pollutants are, what they are comprised of and what the World Health Organisation limits are:
Pollutant | What is it? | WHO limits |
Particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) | Comprised of sulphate, nitrates, ammonia, sodium chloride, black carbon, mineral dust and water. Commonly used as a proxy indicator for all pollution and affects more people than any other pollutant | Annual mean of 10 micrograms per cubic metre (10 μg/m3) for PM2.5, and 20 μg/m3 for PM10 |
Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) | In high concentrations it is a toxic gas, and it forms an important fraction of PM2.5. It predominantly comes from vehicles and industry, and has been associated with causing asthma and bronchitis | Annual mean of 40 μg/m3 and one hour mean of 200 μg/m3 |
Ozone (O3) | Ozone at a ground level is a major component of smog. It is formed when nitrogen oxides react with sunlight | Eight hour mean of 100 μg/m3 |
Sulphur dioxide (S02) | A colourless which has a sharp smell, SO2 comes from burning fossil fuels. Just 10 minutes of exposure at high levels can cause health problems, particularly respiratory issues | 24-hour mean of 20 μg/m3 and 10-minute mean of 500 μg/m3 |

Meaco Air Purifiers
Meaco has two air purifier models – the MeacoClean CA-HEPA 119×5SRP £379.99 and MeacoClean CA-HEPA 47×5 SRP £149.99, both ‘state of the art,’offering a bespoke air purification experience to suit the allergy and room size. Both of which have received the seal of approval by Allergy UK.
Meaco uses true HEPA filters, to provide a high standard of air cleaning, as part of a multistage filtration package, along with activated charcoal which helps to remove odours and VOCs from the air. It has a PCO (Photocatalytic Oxidation) system which is the most advanced ant-bacterial/virus system to date. PCO technology speeds up the reaction time to help kill bacteria and viruses. Another advantage of the MeacoClean is that the multiple filters cover the vast majority of air pollutants.
We are seeing very strong growth year on year for air purifiers with better air filtration as the problem of poor air quality grows in the home.
