The differences between our new Arete One 12L and our other 12L dehumidifiers

In 2022, after 5 years of listening to customers and developing the new Arete® range we launched Arete® One, our new domestic dehumidifier and air purifier to hugely positive reviews and exceptional demand from customers. We don’t claim to have created the perfect domestic dehumidifier, but we might be very close!  And we’re proud to say that the MeacoDry Arete® design gives it a lot of advantages over other dehumidifiers (including our own). A question we hear from customers on a regular basis is: ‘What’s the difference between the Arete® 12L and your other 12L dehumidifier models?’

So we decided to create this blog articles to help clarify the key differences between the Arete® 12L, the 12L Low Energy and the 12L ABC.

What’s in a design?

Our customers provided us with feedback that their dehumidifier stays in the same place all year round when they aren’t using it. Although it is sold as a small home appliance, the Arete dehumidifier might end up becoming a part of the furniture and staying in a fixed position. Our Arete dehumidifiers are stylish and blend in, they can fit against the wall and take up less space, with a cable tidy and hidden castors, they are easy to move if needed.

If you have any questions specific to your dehumidifier, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our customer service team, call us on 01483 234900 or use our Live Chat service. Alternatively email us at customerservice@meaco.com.

  1. Hello guys.

I am trying to buy the Ariete 12L but can’t find it anywhere, do you know when will be available please?
    Many thanks 🙂

  2. I’ve been trying to find a aretedry one 12L for couple weeks as my old one has packed up. but can’t find anywhere in stock unless u pay double which of course is Amazon.
Do u know when they will be in stock please?
    Thanks

  3. Bought both a DD8L junior and a Arete 12L thinking I could use both at different times, applications etc. Returned DD8L as the Arete does everything the Junior does and much more at same price point. Junior is a great piece of kit but just check the Arete’s capabilities, compare both there can only be one conclusion the Arete is the superior machine.

  4. I had a Meaco DD8L which broke down within one year of use. As it had a 2 yr guarantee it went back for repair but broke down again and went back again. This unit was then replaced with a brand new one. Same thing happened within 2 years of use. Most of what I’ve read says a dehumidifier should last 5-10 years so this poor performance makes them very costly. How long are these new ones guaranteed for and how long would you expect their life to be? I looked after the second one fastidiously!

    1. Diane,

there is no doubt that the quality of the dehumidifiers has improved over the years, especially the DD8L range. We do have many thousands of customers who have owned their DD8Ls for 7 years plus. How long they last is often down to environmental reasons.

The new Arete range comes with a 5 year warranty as standard to give you peace of mind.

  5. Hello
I’m going on holiday and I don’t want to have the dehumidifier on whilst I am away. In any case, there won’t be anybody here to empty the tank. I am planning to leave the machine off, but the room gets very cold, the temperature can drop to 14 degrees. Will that affect the appliance? Thanks

      1. What’s the difference between the 12L and the 10L? Appart from the fact that one does 12l a day and the other 10? Is it the same device?

  6. I have to agree. Dehumidifiers are usually ugly things that you want to have out of sight. The Arete is the first (and only) dehumidifier I have seen that looks like a stylish tech gadget that you’d actually want to have on display in a main room, with a tinge of futuristic minimalism to it as well.

So I of course will be very disappointed if you ever deviate from this design in the future. You’ve nailed it, now don’t change what isn’t broken!
