Meaco 10L Reviews

Bought via John Lewis and it has changed my life!! Bought bungalow in better weather and did not realise the amount of condensation/damp. Within two days the air quality has improved greatly and no more runny windows. Hopefully my shoes won’t grow mould any more. Good price, neat machine.

Meaco 10L small home dehumidifier

After fighting mould and condensation in a bed one flat, and now about to decorate our new two bed home that also suffers, I decided to invest in a dehumidifier finally!!! To say I’m impressed is an understatement…. Water collection has been considerable and our condensation has improved already … Don’t hesitate to buy the Meaco 10L …. A wise investment in your home

We recently moved to a 3 bedroomed ground floor property. We moved in early September whilst it was still warm. Everything looked fine so we painted the walls and our home looked lovely.
Recently we noticed lots of condensation on the windows in the mornings and a slight musty smell in the bedrooms. We also noticed that some soft toys had started to go mouldy.
We then saw (to our disgust) that in both of the children’s rooms the corners were full of mould and the walls were actually dripping with water. We didn’t see it before because we had placed large cabin beds in those corners, it’s only when we really looked that we saw it.
We were at a loss, we tried opening windows, but it’s too cold now (late October) and nothing really worked. We would spend 10 mins of a morning wiping down the windows and affected areas but it was a losing battle.
Then we purchased this dehumidifier, I was a little put off by the price, but bought it out of desperation!
The first evening we ran it it collected 2 pints of water in 5 hours!!
The following morning we checked all of the damp areas and they were bone dry!
I must say that the general air quality in the house is much pleasanter now.
I would certainly recommend this device to anyone who suffers with damp!
Don’t delay, buy it you’ll be so happy you did!
Thanks Meaco!

Delivery was made as stated, within the one hour specified. Unit was well packed and arrived in good condition. Set up was simple and after the recommended one hour settling time, it powered up and ran OK. The noise from the unit when running is about the same as our fridge/freezer and not a problem. After about 4 hours, the tank was about half full. Emptying was easy but I would recommend you be careful if you let it get full. The final key point, this morning I had no condensation on my windows – it does what it says it will. For the record, I use it in a small 3 bed bungalow. Time will tell how reliable the unit is, but so far so good.

Never thought, as a man in my late 20’s, I’d be leaving a glowing review for a dehumidifier, but here I am. This thing is ace, it works reliably, works well, and is a must have in any house that suffers from condensation.
Wouldn’t hesitate in purchasing one again.

I was quite sceptical about this product and dehumidifiers in general. I live in a basement flat and because of this it can get a little damp.

I bought the Meaco 10l and used it on the first day of purchase. I had it in my bedroom during the day as I keep the door closed due to having cats and then in the hallway at night.

The first two days I took 6l of water out of my bedroom and around 8l out of the rest of my flat. Unbelievable really!

The flat feels warmer, more comfortable and the feeling of damp has pretty much gone- would definitely recommend to anyone with a damp problem!

And to balance things out a copy of the more negative reviews from the website.

I bought this product about 6 months ago and it has generally been fine, seems to fill up regularly and hasn’t given me much hassle. Until now. There seems to be a drip every 20 seconds or so. It started doing it when switched on and when switching off it is increasing now every 10 seconds. I don’t mind a bit of noise but it’s like sitting with a faulty tap in the sitting room.

I bought the previous version of this model, which was a rather more stylish black and grey instead of utilitarian white as it is now. I’ve been using it for the last 2½ years and, generally, I’ve been quite happy with its dehumidifying performance.

Meaco 10L Dehumidifier rates very highly in reviews

However, it’s not all been entirely trouble free. After 8 months, it stopped working, in a flurry of beeping and flashing lights. Meaco kindly arranged to collect it, free of charge, and it was duly repaired under warranty and returned a few days later. It resumed its dehumidifying duties, and all was well again.

After another 4 months or so, it developed an embarrassing case of incontinence, leaving a puddle of water wherever it was standing. A quick investigation showed that it had developed a large crack in the plastic body of the machine, and this meant that water dripping off the cooling fins simply trickled through the crack and onto the floor instead of into the water tank. As it was now out of warranty, a rather Heath Robinson repair involving plastic sealant was effected, and it soldiered on.

By now, it was becoming quite noisy, but was still dutifully removing two litres of water from the air each day, and all it asked in return was to have its filter cleaned occasionally.

Unfortunately, last night, as it celebrated its 2½th birthday, the handle snapped off while moving the machine to another room, and it deposited two litres of water all over the carpet. I think this was its way of telling me it felt it had done enough dehumidifying in its short but troubled little life.

So long, brave Meaco 10L. A life tragically cut short by plastic fatigue.
