How does a humidifier help your skin?

The optimal humidity level is between 40%-60%, as having too much moisture can also make your skin more oily or cause breakouts.

2. It can help with skin disorders

Humidifiers are also helpful in alleviating symptoms of eczema or psoriasis, as well as other skin conditions. Eczema is a skin condition that causes itchy, red and dry rashes. These conditions often flare up due to dry air and be helped significantly by adding moisture into your environment.

‘In winter [in dry air], you are breathing a cocktail of dead cells, mucus and viruses from everyone who has visited the room recently’ – BBC, 2015

According to the American National Library of Medicine, after running a test using a humidifier  in a room to measure the rate of survival of viruses in low relative  humidity conditions, using a humidifier dramatically decreased the influenza virus survival by 17.5 – 31.6%.
